Goatskin

Buttery soft goatskin watch straps in Alran chevre, comfortable from the first wear, made to order or ready to wear.

Goatskin watch straps

Goatskin, or chevre, is one of the best-kept secrets in watch straps. It's soft and supple from the very first wear, with no breaking in. It has a fine, natural grain that looks refined without being showy, and it's naturally strong for its weight. If comfort is your priority, goatskin is very hard to beat.

Alran chevre

Most of our goatskin straps are made from chevre from Alran, a French tannery renowned for some of the finest goatskin leathers in the world. Alran chevre is used widely in luxury leather goods for its buttery hand, rich colour and beautiful, even grain. It gives our straps a quietly luxurious feel that improves with wear.

Our goatskin range

Classic Alran chevre - our signature goatskin strap in black, navy blue, tan and chocolate brown. Soft, versatile and easy to pair with almost any watch.

Pilot style - a pilot-inspired design with a bold, aviation look, ideal for large pilot's watches and flieger-style dials.

Vintage minimal stitch - a slimmer, cleaner design that suits vintage and smaller watches, letting the grain of the leather speak for itself.

Light grained goatskin - a subtle, fine-grained goatskin in a rich burgundy.

Made to order or ready to wear

Our goatskin straps are made to order to your chosen width and length. For something quicker, our ready to wear goatskin straps include Alran Sully goatskin and our rustic Nigerian PatNat goatskin, both in stock and ready to ship. To choose your own leather and stitching, design your own strap in the Strap Designer.

FAQs

What is chevre leather?

Chevre is the French word for goat, and in leather it refers to high-quality goatskin. It's known for its softness, fine grain and strength.

Is goatskin durable?

Yes. Goatskin is naturally strong and flexible for its weight, so it resists tearing and wears well over time.

How does goatskin compare to calfskin?

Goatskin is usually softer and more supple from new, with a more pronounced natural grain. Calfskin tends to be firmer and smoother, and many calfskins develop more patina with age.

How do I care for a goatskin strap?

Keep it away from water, let it dry naturally if it gets damp, and use a light leather conditioner occasionally to keep it supple.
