Sailcloth watch straps
Sailcloth straps have become one of the most popular strap styles in recent years, and they're one of the most requested at The Strap Tailor. They bridge the gap between a sporty rubber strap and a smart leather strap. The fine woven texture looks technical and modern, but it's refined enough to wear with a shirt. That makes sailcloth one of the most versatile straps you can own, equally at home on a dive watch, a pilot's watch or a smart steel sports watch.
Styles
Classic sailcloth - a sailcloth strap with a traditional buckle. It comes in black, navy blue, grey, army green and sandstone, and in the widest range of widths, from 18mm up to 24mm.
Omega-style deployant - our most popular way to wear sailcloth. The deployant clasp gives a secure, precise fit and makes the strap quick to take on and off, and there's no loose tail to fold away. Browse more Omega-style deployant straps.
Sailcloth and rubber - the sailcloth look with a rubber lining underneath, for extra durability and water resistance.
Soft-touch rubber sailcloth - a fully rubber strap with the same subtle woven texture, for a sailcloth look that's completely waterproof. See our full rubber strap range.
Apple Watch - our sailcloth strap is also available for Apple Watch, in black, grey and sandstone. See more Apple Watch straps.
Sizing
Sailcloth straps are sized by lug width, the gap between the lugs on your watch case. Our classic sailcloth straps come in 18mm to 24mm, including the less common 19mm and 21mm widths. Deployant versions are available in 20mm and 22mm, with selected colours in 21mm.
FAQs
What is a sailcloth watch strap?
A sailcloth strap has a fine, woven texture inspired by the sailcloth used on racing yachts. It gives a watch a sporty, technical look while staying smart enough for everyday wear.
Can I get a sailcloth strap wet?
Our sailcloth straps are not designed to be waterproof but are fine for frequent splashing. Just not for swimming or showering.
Is sailcloth comfortable?
Yes. It's flexible, lightweight and soft against the skin, which is a big part of why it's become so popular.
What watches suit a sailcloth strap?
Dive watches, pilot's watches, GMTs and steel sports watches all work well. Black and navy are the most versatile, and sandstone and army green give a more relaxed, summery look.
